My name is Jim Edwards, chairman of Edwards Business Systems and Virginia Business Systems. On my suit coat, you will find a pin that signifies 65 years in business—a journey that has taught me the value of dedication and hard work. As we approach 2024, the excitement builds for the day I'll replace that pin with one that celebrates 70 incredible years in this industry.
My leadership has seen its share of challenges, from wars to economic downturns, technological advancements, and even a global pandemic. Yet, through it all, my grounded approach has guided me. I don't claim to possess any exceptional business brilliance; instead, I attribute my success to a simple yet profound philosophy: keeping promises. This philosophy resonates with both our clients and our dedicated team members—more than half of our workforce, numbering over 130 individuals, have spent years with our firm.
For me, it's always been about service. I firmly believe that no one should have to wait for quality service, whether it's a typewriter, adding machine, calculator, or high-speed MFP. "We started as a service company and we remain one today," I often say, reflecting on our history and our unwavering commitment to our clients.
